Regular activities

Regular activities 
Knowledgeable guides including a shipwright await you. They will explain this prestigious time frame where wooden shipbuilding was at its peak. Discover how talented the islanders were. They are rowboat builders, master shipwrights and navigators. Our master boatbuilder and our guides will explain the centuries-old techniques used to build a traditional boat at Chalouperie Godbout. The interpretation centre hosts a superb model of the Chantier maritime achieved by Mr. Roger Coulombe.

Grand opening

Grand opening 
Our 2010 seasonal grand opening is the perfect occasion to discover the Parc maritime. Many activities are planed for this special day:   

From 10 am to 4 pm

• Workshops on nautical knots
 

• Initiation to calfating the traditional workmanship that consisted in making boats watertight

• Children will love our model boat-making workshop (using recycled materials). 

Admission free of charge for all!

Artists and craftspersons’ day

Artists and craftspersons’ day 
Many artists and crafters will come to explain and show their creations. This year, you will also have the chance to learn how to make fishing nets.

From 10 am to 4 pm

• Exposition of many artists and crafters

• Workshop on fishing nets making

• Family treasure hunt

• Arts and crafts for children

Admission: $3,50
Free of charge for children ages 12 and under and for the residents of Saint-Laurent.

Saint-Laurent Day 
This year, la fête de Saint-Laurent will take a special feathery turn. Conferences and workshops will let you explore the fascinating world of birds. Also, don't miss our giant soap bubbles activity.

Harvest party

Harvest party 
Even if the harvest season means that summer is ending, it is also wonderfull time for all its fresh products. On this begining of september, come and celebrate with us. A corn roast and an auction of local products will make you discover all that has to offer.

Here an outline of the activities which will be added to our usual guided tours Of 10 H with 16 H


Creation of mural with maritime topic  • Manufacture of boats (recycled materials) • Manufacture of mangers for birds (recycled materials)  • Workshops of caulking • Workshops on the wood turpentine’s (shipbuilding)• Workshops on the reef knots

• Capsule of history on the arrival of Jacques Cartier in the Island of Orleans, by Renee V. - Lauzière   • Capsule of history illustrating the differences between the boats of Jacques Cartier and the goélettes built with the maritime Park, by Renee V. - Lauzière and Pierre-Paul Plant Of 11 H with 14 H  •  Corn roast

• Giant soap bubbles activity

Journée de la culture [Culture Day]

Journée de la culture 

This day is part of the Quebec-wide Journées de la culture events. For a really original day, come and meet with our invited artist, Paule Laperrière, who is a professional hatmaker.

From 10 am to 4 pm

• Model boat-making workshop (using recycled materials)

From 1 pm to 3 pm

• Interpretation activity and paper hat making workshop with Paule Laperrière, hatmaker and actress by training.

Admission free of charge for all

Pumpkin party

Pumpkin party 

A party to celebrate the end of our season. It is a day filled with special activities and surprises. From the biggest pumpkin contest to pumpkin decorating, everyone will find something to their liking.

From 10 am to 4 pm

• Pumpkin decorating, children's makeup, crafts, workshops for participants of all ages
• Sampling of autumnal foods
• Door prizes


At 1 pm

• Contest and sampling of the best pumpkin soup

At 2 pm

• Biggest pumpkin contest (bring yours - a prize will be awarded to the person who grew the biggest pumpkin)
